Stenden Rangsit University against the flood Stenden students have once more proven that more than academic excellence is part of the Stenden philosophy. In an unselfish and spontaneous effort, roughly 20 students volunteered and joined SRU staff to protect local houses from an expected flooding in the coming days. The affected communities are in very close proximity to a khlong (Thai canal) that carries water from Northern provinces where heavy rainfalls are being reported for several weeks now. The inhabitants of the affected areas are mostly Rangsit employees or food vendors with their families working around the campus area. Therefore, all volunteers involved helped passionately to support their neighbors and Stenden Rangsit is proud to have such responsible and committed students who don’t hesitate to put other people’s needs first. The feedback and appreciation shown by other local helpers was worth the effort already. The “exotic” foreigners had to stop their work several times to pose for photos with enthusiastic locals who expressed their gratitude. Closely monitoring the developments, SRU will be on stand-by to provide further support whenever necessary.
